COLDWATER CELEBRATES ST.PATRICK'S DAY

Following a more than thirty year tradition, members of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 270 Coldwater organized and took part in Coldwater's annual St. Patrick's Day parade. On Sunday March 17, dozens of members of the branch were joined by an enthusiastic crowd of local residents to march on the main street in Coldwater. Many carried on afterwards inside the Legion's Club Room to celebrate in a definitely Irish-for-the-day environment with appropriate live music entertainment by Bruce Naismith. Thank you to all who participated and/or helped with the celebrations, and congratulations to our three winners of the St. Patrick's Day raffle, Betty Stoneman, George and Pat Sinclair, respectively

LEGION PUBLIC SPEAKING CONTEST

On Sunday February 24, the annual Royal Canadian Legion/Ontario Command Public Speaking Contest was held at Branch 270 Coldwater. Young contestants ranging from Grade 2 to Grade 8 took turn at delivering their own original speech in front of judges and an audience of family and friends. Congratulations to all participants, particularly to Fletcher Desroches, who won the Grades 1 – 3 category, and Michael Prynn, who took first prize in the Grades 7 – 9 category. The Public Speaking Contest, part of the Legion's Youth and Education program, is meant to give young people an opportunity to speak in public.
