COMMEMORATION OF D-DAY
On June 6, 2019, members of the Coldwater Branch marked the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings by Canadian and Allied forces on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944. Flags at the Branch and at the Cenotaph were lowered to half-mast for the day and members laid a wreath at the Cenotaph in memory of the young Canadians who took part in the greatest seaborne invasion of all time and in the long struggle that followed to push back German forces out of occupied France. Earlier in the week, a special presentation was made to the branch by three Airborne forces veterans of the branch, who donated a print of a painting commemorating the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings and supporting airborne operations.
