Congratulations to Coldwater Branch Public Relations Officer and Branch Historian Norm Marion who was awarded the provincial Senior of the Year Award for Severn Township by Mayor Mike Burkett at a ceremony on April 22, at the township office.
Norm conducted extensive research into First and Second World War casualties and helped honour the men and women who served, while preserving an important part of the town's history for future generations. He donated his time and talents to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 270 Coldwater as well as fundraising for several organizations.
"His dedication speaks to a deep love for his community and a sincere desire to care for its people, its stories and its legacy," said Severn Township Mayor Mike Burkett.
Other awards were also presented at the ceremony including the Outstanding Youth Award and five Good Neighbour Awards.
Another Branch member, Matt Murray, won a Good Neighbour Award for his consistent work with Coldwater Minor Hockey, the Coldwater Fall Fair and other local organizations.
"He consistently goes above and beyond to support families, youth and the wider community," said Burkett.
