On June 10, 2025, a $500.00 donation was presented to the President of the Coldwater Museum, Richard Joliffe, to support the museum’s efforts in telling local military history through displays of artefacts and photos.

"In small communities such as Coldwater," says the museum's president, "we depend on the concept of working together with other groups and organizations to strengthen the community we live in."

Last year the curator of the Coldwater Museum, Patti Turnour, created First and Second World Wars displays with model aircraft, uniforms, equipment, photos and much more.  The plan is for the museum to have a portion of the military display on view for its guests into the future.

Says Mr. Joliffe, "Working with other organizations within the community assists the museum in its effort to show case our history, and sometimes we need help from individuals that have the time and knowledge to give; Coldwater Legion's Branch Historian Norm Marion is that kind of individual.  He can advise Patti on the contents of our military display."

Given its location in the middle of a small rural community, one can expect the museum's exhibits to feature buildings and artefacts that relate to farming and village life.  And it does.  But it is also important that events on the scale of the two World Wars that earlier generations had to live through, at home or on the battlefields, are not left out and forgotten.  And this is where the Legion's own mandate comes in play.  "The Legion's main aims are to support Veterans, and promote Remembrance," says Coldwater Legion's Norm Marion.  "Our motto literally says: 'We Will Remember Them'.  So, the Coldwater Legion was happy to step up with financial support, allowing the museum to continue its work in the preservation of local military history."

"The Coldwater Museum would like to thank the Coldwater Legion for this generous donation, with the hope of working together in the future," concludes the museum's president Richard Joliffe.
